FINAL edit!
Our final edit was today. Editing took extremely long and was a painful process as we spotted a numerous amount of faults with our footage. I wasn’t completelyhappy with the material we had but we had to work with it. I believe our footage as well didn’t reflect our great script which was unfortunate. I did feel useless whilst editing but Zoe took on the role as editor. The whole group however, supported her in the avid suite to make suggestions. Our audio again was terrible and this really let us down but this was a lesson learnt…. I was so happy when we finished
and glad because it had been a long process.

reflecting on actors
The biggest difficulty post production was finding actors. It had been such a struggle and we had been let down so many times. I was lucky that my mum worked with someone whose son attended YOG. This was a huge help and he even lived at the place of our location of filming – which worked out really useful as the equipment took up more room in the cars than we thought so our two male actors met us at ‘Abbey Fields’ in Kenilworth. They were really nice guys and even said if we needed their help with any other projects – they’d be happy to help
So we will definitely keep them in mind.

editing!
Today just proved to us that what we believed was good footgae just wasn’t. On the avid computers we reviewed what we had shot and half of the shots the boom mic was in and the audio was dreadful! What i believed would have been a good film may just turn out horrible. Our script was great and it would be a real shame if our footage couldn’t reflect this. Editing wasn’t a strong point of mine so I did feel useless but a member of our group decided she wanted to complete the editing which was fine by the rest of us. It was going to be a long day.

FILMING!!
Finally we began filming today. Just a quick review but it went really well. We believe that we have shot enough footage and worked really well as a group. The audio though we think was terrible due to traffic- it was a nightmare!!! But all the actors worked really well together and took on the script and made it their own.
Really enjoyable day and the sun was shinning so our location looked great!

Interim Crit
I was disappointed that we didn’t have anything to show for our interim crit but on the other hand didn’t want to rush our work and it wasn’t the groups fault more of a delay due to actors letting us down. Reviewing the work of others was really enjoyable and I was amazed at the standard of work. Looking back on what they had shown during the first interim crit – people had come a long way and worked exceedingly hard.
The rest of the year were also very helpful as they told us which bus stop was best to shoot at and also gave us numbers of actors they knew
We are really greatful for the feedback and was hoping to film on Friday – IF we could get our actors.

Recces – Leamington/Kenilworth
The plan of action was to head to Leamington to recces as we discussed that this was the best place for our wooden ‘hutty’ bus stops as we really wanted to film at one of these for first our location spot. We set off together in search of one, however were unsuccessful they had all been taken away and replaced by just bus stop signs! We were very disappointed. But then a member of the group said that she had seen one in Kenilworth which was only down the road from where we were so we decided to go and look. After disappointment we were so happy to find more than one hutty bus stops in Kenilworth!! They were perfect for what we wanted and we also had a large variety. After taking pictures of these and checking them out we then travelled a bit down the road and found our perfect location for our second scene where the girl and boy walk in to a crowded area. It was exactly what we had all imagined.

Meeting With Steve.
After deciding upon our final idea- which still hasn’t been given a title. . . (for now its known as ‘the bus stop’) We decided to have a group meeting with Steve – Our module leader. This was very useful. However annoying because he put things clearer and what we believed to be good then turned in to complicated. We did stick with our original idea which was a girl being able to read minds but we did start off with her meeting a boy then, them just going for coffee… Steve then asked why we just ended it like this? we really couldn’t answer maybe it was just our first idea- which we have been told as a matter of fact by Steve to never go with!! So we began thinking with him and he suggested certain endings.
Going away it began to niggle all of us, so we sat in the entrance to our university put our brains together and thought of different ideas. Excited about the possibilities we were on a roll. After a while we discovered different endings and developments. Then going back to Steve to discuss them he was happy that we didn’t just go home and forget about it, we stuck it out. He was pleased with our progress and suggested for us to have a meeting with Clifton to discuss the script ending.

Lighting and sound in the past- if i am honist had never been a huge factor of filming for myself. After this workshop how i regretted that!! .. It was a great insight in to how important certain lights, shadows were and even props in the background to make the scenery look less ‘open’. The group had a go at setting up a scene and setting up the lighting in the television studio. I felt this was important as we were able to see examples and receive help from both the lecturers and fellow members of the group.
After the lighting workshop we were given a lecture on sound and shown the extras on the film ‘King Kong’. I found this fascinating as I did not realise how much time and effort goes in to producing a film. The props that they use for certain sound effects such as dropping very large tree trunks on the ground for the sound of an ape falling. This was really useful and now when watching a dvd i will check out the making of it too.

Thinking of ideas 211mc
I began thinking about my 10 final ideas this evening and found it really hard. For inspriration i researched ‘short films’ on the internet and asked friends and family. I have came up with 6 so far and hope to exchange these with my group at our next group meeting. Before in the past I have left things till very late but feel with this term I am on top of things and completing them as they are set. I enjoy listening to and watching other members of the class work and find it very useful as i should be reaching the same standard- even better. I find that a vast amount of the year has had a lot of technical experience or experience in writing/producing films- this does hold me back but only in time as they may get things completed quicker. I don’t mind asking for help and letting other people know I lack in experience where they might not.
My ideas for the final project are not all based around the same genre, I have tried to make them all completely different. I think that when I get together with my friends we can expand on the ideas and they may like one of mine but wish to change it slightly which doesn’t bother myself. I find it easier to think of ideas when around friends as believe we all add our opinions and come up with a idea all together.
